Higher Education in the Loop & South Loop Impact Study
This January 2005 study examines the impact of over twenty higher education institutions in Chicago’s Loop and South Loop. Sponsored by the Greater State Street Council and Central Michigan Avenue Association, the study shows that the higher education institutions in ZIP codes 60601-60605 (bounded by the Chicago River, Wacker Drive, Roosevelt Road, and the lakefront) have a potent impact on the Chicago economy, as well as the character of the downtown.
In 2009, the study is being re-conducted by DePaul University to examine the ongoing impact that these educational institutions and their student bodies have on the Loop community.
